Correspondence and a report relating to a series of maps showing the evolving boundaries of the Louisiana territory and the Louisiana Purchase as acquired by the United States. Included are two letters (1903, 1904) from J. H. Fimple and Frank Bond of the U.S. General Land Office to O. D. Wheeler; a report (14 p., undated) entitled, "Louisiana Purchase Progress Maps of the United States"; and two letters (1904) from Nathaniel P. Langford to Fimple and Bond at the General Land Office concerning boundaries shown on the maps.

Nathanial Pitt Langford was born in Westmoreland, New York, in 1832; he came to St. Paul in 1854. Topographer, author, and railroad executive. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1852, Olin D. Wheeler was a topographer with John Wesley Powell's survey of the Colorado River, 1874-1879.
